Mr Gearóid Ó hEara
Gearóid Ó hEára was born in 1953 in Derry City. He has a BA Hons degree in Irish Studies, a diploma in Further and Higher Education and an MBA.
He is:
- An Irish Language activist and currently Chief Executive of Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin, an award winning Irish Language project based in Derry
- Former Board member Derry Port and Harbour Commission 2001 - 2005
- Former Board member Western Education and Library Board 1989 - 2000
- Former City Councillor in Derry from 1989 – 2005
- Former Mayor of Derry City in 2004 - 2005
- Board member Foras na Gaeilge 2000 – December 2007
- Board member Arts Council NI 2003 – November 2007
- Chairperson of Derry Oireachtas na Gaeilge Committee, Derry Glór na nGael Committee and Governor of Gaelscoil Éadan Mhóir in Derry
- Board Member of Ciste Infheistíochta Ghaeilge.
