Brice Dickson is Professor of International and Comparative Law at Queens University Belfast, where he teaches and publishes on Human Rights, Judicial Activism and Employment Law. He is a qualified barrister but has worked as a legal academic since 1977, having taught at the universities of Leicester and Ulster as well as Queens.
From 2008 to 2011 he was Director of the Human Rights Centre at Queens. From 1999 to 2005 he served as the first Chief Commissioner of the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission, having previously been a Deputy Chair of the Equal Opportunities Commission, a member of the Law Reform Advisory Committee and a custody visitor to police stations. He currently sits on the Department of Health’s Privacy Advisory Committee (unremunerated) and is a member of Amnesty International.
