Section 25(1) of the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2000 provides for the Policing Board to determine the objectives for the policing of Northern Ireland.
To comply with its statutory duty the Board has developed a number of Strategic Outcomes for Policing. These were developed in partnership with the Police Service of Northern Ireland and outline what we collectively believe needs to be achieved by 2020.
It is important for the Board to have a long term vision for policing and while the Strategic Outcomes for Policing 2016 - 20 outline what we want the PSNI to focus on at a strategic level over the next four years, the Annual Policing Plan will deliver incremental changes and improvements towards the achievement of these.

Update on the Strategic Outcomes for Policing 2017-18;

The Strategic outcomes for Policing contained within the 2017-18 Northern Ireland Policing Plan have been developed using an outcomes based accountability approach, in order to ensure that Policing Activity is targeted at achieving positive and tangible change.
