Board Chair Condemns Strabane Attack

Doug Garrett

Condemning the attempted murder of members of the Police Service of Northern Ireland in Strabane last night, Policing Board Chair Doug Garrett said:

“This hateful attack was designed to kill these officers.  Those responsible are condemned as is their warped desire to take the lives of people for simply doing a job that the community wants and needs.

We are thankful that their vile intent did not succeed. We are also grateful that no one in the community was injured as a result of this reckless attack which happened in the heart of a residential area.

As a Board, we call on the wider community to stand with the police and reject those responsible for terror and violence against our policing service.

The police will need information to catch those responsible and we encourage anyone who can help to pass this directly to the police or anonymously through Crimestoppers.”
