As discussed at the special Board meeting on 26 February 2019, an internal review has been commenced in light of the disclosure failings to the Police Ombudsman.

The Terms of Reference for this review have been provided to the Board, including timelines for the delivery of this work.

An inventory of all legacy systems and data sources is being conducted as part of this review, which will identify what resources will be required to make all archived documents more accessible and easily searchable.

A previous scoping exercise into back record conversion of the 44 million documents archived within the PSNI estate was conducted in 2016. This exercise established that it would require 199 personnel, employed for 8 years at a cost of £45.7 million to back record convert this material.

Our Digital Program Board is currently revisiting this work as part of our internal review and we will keep the Policing Board updated as this progresses.
