Despite significant reductions in previous years, the PSNI draft Resource Plan for 2019-20 does include provision for some further reductions in Overtime expenditure.
The projected expenditure on Police Main Grant overtime for 2018-19 is £16.1m. This is £0.5m in excess of the relevant budget at £15.6m.
The draft proposals in the Resource Plan for 2019-20 seek to maintain the budget at £15.6m and work to contain costs within budget. If achieved, this would deliver savings of at least £0.5m in 2019-20.
PSNI has committed to keeping overtime expenditure under review, particularly in relation to any potential impacts arising from EU Exit.
