Has any or all of the memorabilia relating to the Royal Ulster Constabulary GC been removed from the Training College and if so, on whose authorisation and on what basis?

In 2016 an Independent Review of the PSNI Police College and the Student Officer Development Programme was published.

This entire review of 50+ recommendations was overseen by the Northern Ireland Policing Board, who approved it as delivered at the end of 2019.

The review made a number of recommendations regarding the physical learning environment.  Rec 4a specifically addressed imagery around the site to ensure that it supported the embedding of a modern policing with the community culture.  Memorabilia relating to Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC), Royal Ulster Constabulary GC (RUC) and An Garda Siochana (AGS) within a glass cabinet in the entrance lobby was removed in 2017 and returned to the Police Museum.  The cabinet was re-envisioned in partnership with the oversight panel to reflect community and the police working together.

Imagery of the development of policing throughout the past century remains at other locations within our Police College.
