Question

Seapark Archive – Can the Chief Constable provide an update on the ongoing work at the Seapark complex and in particular, reassurance that the storage of the murder archive has remained intact during this work?

Response

Since the identification of potential failings in roof panels at the Seapark complex, a significant amount of work has been undertaken to address the immediate health and safety risks on the site and to secure business continuity for essential services.

Detailed proposals are now being developed for a systematic programme of work to demolish and remove the roof panels across the site. Work is scheduled to commence early next year and is anticipated to extend for a period of 12 – 18 months.

To date, the storage in the Murder Archive has not been impacted and no work will be progressed until detailed plans for the removal of panels and management of the relocation of the archive material have been agreed by all parties, including the Policing Board.

For clarity and reassurance, all materials in the Murder Archive remain unaffected and undisturbed at this time.
