PSNI Data Breach funding allocation
Policing Board Chair Mukesh Sharma said:
“The Policing Board welcomes the Executive's decision to approve the £119m required to settle claims arising from the PSNI data breach.
This decision provides clarity and reassurance for all those that were adversely impacted by this breach. It also ensures that the PSNI will now be able to meet its legal obligations in progressing settlements in a managed way so that all those affected are compensated appropriately.
The Board has fully supported the Chief Constable in advocating for resources to settle these claims and remove pressures faced. The Board will continue to work with the PSNI on securing the resources necessary for policing here.
