Statement on attempted murder of Police Officer

01 June 2019

Speaking about the device left under the car of a serving officer, Policing Board Vice Chair Debbie Watters said:

‘We are truly grateful that those responsible for planting this bomb did not succeed in their vile murderous intent.

This was a reckless act and on a busy Saturday any number of people could have been harmed if this device had exploded.

Our thoughts are with the officer and his family who have had a lucky escape but will undoubtedly be left deeply shocked by what has happened.

If anyone saw anything that could help police please let them know or pass it anonymously through the Crimestoppers number.’
