Given numbers recently released following an FOI request regarding higher number of arrests within the Roman Catholic community than the Protestant community, can PSNI advise if this will be addressed as part of the 2023-2028 Equality, Diversity and Good Relations Strategy?
Answer
The Police Service is currently undertaking a five year review of our Equality Scheme to inform the development of the Equality, Diversity and Good Relations Strategy 2023 – 2028 and associated action plan.
An evidence-based approach will be applied to the development of this new strategy, taking into account a range of information and perspectives. This will include alignment to wider exploratory work which is being led by Operational Support Department, under the Policing Powers and Development Group, relating to this matter.
An update to the Board will be provided in due course.
