Question

Following the CJINI report “An Inspection of File Quality, Disclosure and Case Progression and Trial Recovery from the Covid-19 Pandemic”, when can the Board expect a new, revised PSNI/PPS Working Together programme, dealing with disclosure, file quality etc.?

Answer

Progress has been made in respect of the CJINI recommendations emanating from this report. A specific action plan has been created to ensure the operational recommendation owned by PSNI is fully achieved. In relation to Working Together, a joint workshop has taken place between PSNI and partners in the PPS. The purpose of this was to refresh Working Together structures and agree priorities. There is now a draft agreement which is subject to final sign-off by ACC Justice and the Assistant Director of PPS. This is due for completion and the first meeting of the new ‘Working Together Programme’ is anticipated to be before the end of November 2023.
