Question

Resources Committee have asked for further information on the ControlWorks system following consideration of the attached query.

Can PSNI advise if the issues with the ControlWorks system occurred, and specifically if there was an issue that affected the Noah Donohoe case, if his family were informed of the issue with the ControlWorks Software in response of the laptop. If such an incident occurred can PSNI advise if this has disclosed to the current coronial inquest?

Answer

The inquest touching on the death of Noah Donohoe is scheduled to commence on 19th January 2026. Therefore it is necessary to limit any additional commentary on aspects of the case in order to avoid any potential conflict with the Coronial process at this critical juncture.

I can however reassure the Committee that the PSNI have responded on three separate occasions to Computer Weekly regarding allegations that ControlWorks suffered ‘critical’ failings during this incident. No such failings occurred.

All related matters have been disclosed as part of the Coronial process and therefore are subject to scrutiny as may be appropriate by HM Coroner. Therefore it would not be appropriate to expand further at the stage.
