To ask the Chief Constable to detail the numbers of Senior Officers who are developed vetted, and those who are not, broken down (i) by rank and (ii) department/location.

Answer

Of the Police Service’s 184 senior officers (Chief Inspector and above), 66 are developed vetted.

(i) Senior officers who are developed vetted broken down by rank:

  •  1 - Chief Constable
  •  1 - Deputy Chief Constable
  •  4 - Assistant Chief Constables
  •  9 - Chief Superintendents
  •  21 - Superintendents
  •  30 - Chief Inspectors

(ii) Senior officers who are developed vetted broken down by department/location:

The Chief Constable, Deputy Chief Constable and four Assistant Chief Constables are part of the Service Executive Team and are based in Police Service Headquarters, Brooklyn.

The nine Chief Superintendents are in Community Safety Department (1), Crime Department (6) and Operational Support Department (2) and are based at Castlereagh, Grosvenor Road, Brooklyn, Ladas Drive and Antrim Road.

The 21 Superintendents are in Crime Department (17), Executive Support Team (1), Professional Standards Department (2) and Operational Support Department (1). They are based at Lisnasharragh, Brooklyn, Castlereagh, Ardmore, Ballymena, Cookstown, Grosvenor Road, Mahon Road, Maydown, Newtownards and Sprucefield.

The 30 Chief Inspectors are in Crime Department (26), Operational Support Department (2), Professional Standards Department (1) and Executive Support Team (1) based in Antrim Road, Ballymena, Castlereagh, Coleraine, Gough, Brooklyn, Knocknagoney, Lisnasharragh, Mahon Road, Maydown, Musgrave, Newtownards and Sprucefield.
