Can the Chief Constable clarify their position regarding information reported in the media regarding a court case in Derry where the PPS advised the judge that they required yet another delay on Domestic Abuse case as there was no PPU staff in the Derry area (and hadn’t been for some months) therefore the PPS did not have the information they required to prosecute the case. This was following another court case where a man had broken into his ex-partners home with a taser – he used the taser and then raped the women. This was the third time this man had done this on this. When asked by the judge what had the police done regarding this man on the two previous occasions (one of which he was armed with a baseball bat,) they advised they ‘spoken’ to him as they viewed it as a domestic.
