Question type:Written

Can the Chief Constable provide assurance to the Board that the timeliness and quality of information compiled by the PSNI and provided to the Board will improve going forward?

RESPONSE

The PSNI take its responsibilities for the provision of information to our accountability body, the Policing Board, very seriously.

We understand and respect our statutory duty to supply “such information and documents as the Board may require for the purposes of, or in connection with, the exercise of any of its functions”.

As the Board Committees have now been re-established and conducted their first meetings, we are working hard to understand the requirements of the Board so that we may fulfil your expectations.

At the Resourcing Committee in February 2019 we provided an initial high level overview of the Finance and Human Resourcing challenges facing the organisation.  We were clear at this meeting that we remain willing to provide whatever details the Board desires to enable you to conduct your accountability role.

We will of course continue to take feedback from the Board on the quality and timeliness of this information and will continue to review and tailor our submissions in line with the Board’s expectations.
